Core Values Photo Gallery
Excellence is not based on a singular act or moment. It’s about an unrelenting drive to expand and enhance what we as Gators are called to do. In the two years the pandemic has been part of our lives, the University of Florida and UF Health have never stopped improving systems and services to support our community. From the classroom to the residence halls to the hospitals and beyond, we found new ways to explain expectations, bust myths and promote healthy habits. We doubled down on cleaning protocols, established quarantine and isolation processes, and built digital platforms as the foundation of our work. Faculty and staff from across the university stepped into new roles, lending their expertise and voices to amplify efforts in the fight against the virus, never losing sight of our purpose as an educational institution and a flagship land grant university.

After a hiatus of in-person comencements, in the summer of 2021, University of Florida seniors, masters and PhD recipients were able to finally walk across the stage at Exactech Arena to get their diploma. The excellence of UF as a premiere institution of higher learning is exhibited in all of its graduates, who showed tremendous resilience and perserverence in the face of challenging and unprecedented circumstances brought on by the global COVID-19 pandemic. This image represents the excellence of care that our clinical care teams provide to patients at UF Health. The patient, Toño Mauri received a double lung transplant at UF Health after COVID-19 damaged his lungs. After spending months in multiple hospitals, the lung transplant team here at UF was able to perform his double lung transplant, and our post-transplant multidisciplinary care team was able to facilitate his recovery to allow him to go home and be reunited with his family. — © University of Florida, Photo by Jesse S. Melory Biangdan, who recovered after a severe case of COVID-19 was given a “celebration march” as she was transported out of the intensive care unit to a step down unit. Melory was placed on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, she spent 18 days on ECMO, which helped to facilitate her recovery. This treatment, which is not available at every hospital, demonstrates the commitment to excellence that the clinical staff and researchers at UF Health and in UF’s Academic Health Center utilizes to treat patients. — © University of Florida, Photo by Jesse S.
